Elke came from Germany and brought with her the love for stuffed animals and bears and her formal training in sewing. Together with her husband she developed Edinburgh Imports, primarily a Teddy Bear supply company. Ron and Elke met at the castle at Edinburgh in 1972, hence the name Castle Editions. Elke finds a great deal of pleasure in creating unique designs and spreading the joy bears bring to our lives. Elke Block enjoys sharing the many different ways of constructing a bear so that artists at any level can learn from her experience. Her patterns have sold throughout the world and she has been featured in articles in the trade publications in the United States, Australia and Europe. The birth of her uniquely sculptured "open mouth bears" brought requests for making these adorable characters available to collectors. These bears tell their stories unlike any others. They bare their souls and open their arms to you throwing caution to the wind and trusting that you will love them. |
